Serious writing began for me when, as trained nurse, I was on my O/E to the UK. I am a grandmother of six and have published for them my diary/letters and more recently a trilogy of fantasy stories for children. I’ve had articles and short.stories published and have entered many competitions. I’m always encouraged with a win or a place that indicates I’m on the right path. I’m a member of four different writing groups

  1. If you live on the North Shore and have children or grandchildren aged around four to ten try to get a hold of the three Giant Jasper books. They tell of a giant who builds the famous big stone chair at Thorne Bay. Have a laugh!
And there's some history included as well.

  2. May I mention how much I am enjoying "From Geraldine to Fortis Green"? It's a trip of real nostalgia - I'd forgotten how wonderful were those years OE in the '60s. Coincidentally, mine was a similar path - Reefton (NZFS Ranger School in Crampton Road), Paddington (stones-throw from St Marys), Westbourne Grove, Timaru (Glenwood Ave), Geraldine (Forrest Road). Also almost made Gretna Green with a lovely Sth African fiancée but we couldn't get a lift for the final 20 miles on a really miserable day so we turned around and headed for drier locations.
